After an event . . .

it is always good practice to do some sort of evaluation – what went right, what went wrong, what could be improved, etc. Its common practice, and usually quite useful. After an event held by an organization I’m involved in, we were doing some evaluation and one of my colleagues (Shauna Goodman of the Fresno Boys and Girls Clubs) introduced me to this idea of “Start, Stop and Continue.” We went through the exercise, and then I realized that this would be a wonderful exercise for folks to do with their lives! We should all take some time to ask ourselves, and our families, what should we start doing? What should we stop doing? And what is important enough to continue? Powerful internal and external discussions will ensue, I’m sure, ones that I believe would be really beneficial. So give yourself a couple of hours, sit down with a notepad, or a laptop, and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and ask (and answer) these questions. It’s a sure-fire way to make sure we don’t waste any more of our precious time.
